Born March 11, 1937 in Phoenix, Arizona, son of Foster and Pat Shipley. Passed away April 1, 2019 in Sacramento at the age of 82. Bob lived most of his life in various parts of Arizona. He attended North Phoenix High School and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity at ASU. Shortly after graduating, he joined the sales staff of the Foundation Sales Department of The Coca-Cola Company. The company moved him to Tucson where he met and later married Nancy Bellinger, the love of his life for 43 years. They were transferred to California in 1968 and another move brought them to Sacramento in 1972. In 1982, Bob resigned from Coca-Cola and began a new career as a Realtor. A year later, he met Frank Cook who persuaded him to join the sales team at Cook Realty. Bob started teaching classes at Cook School of Real Estate and in 1990 began managing the school until 2006, when he retired. After losing Nancy, he became an avid hiker going on hiking trips all over California. His adventures continued as he traveled with his dear friend Gail Covey.
Bob is survived by his loving children , son, Scott Shipley and Wife Jo of Sacramento, Daughter, Susan O’brien and husband John of Rocklin, grandchildren, Morgan Shipley of Sacramento, Sean, Katie and Adam O’Brien of Rocklin, great grandchildren, Savannah Harlow, Harrison Wyatt and Killian Garret Foster Shipley of Oxford, Mississippi, and dear friend Gail Covey of Ohio. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Bellinger Shipley (2005) and Grandson, Lance Foster Shipley (2019).
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Sacramento SPCA or the American Lung Association.
A memorial is planned for Friday, April 26, anytime from 4:00 – 8:00pm at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA, 916-451-7284
