Phyllis Oakley Tilson died peacefully at her home in Carmichael, CA, surrounded by her family, on October 29, 2015 on her 86th birthday. Phyllis, a Cal Berkley graduate, taught 4th grade English to children of diplomats in London , England from 1959-60. Upon returning home to Sacramento, CA she taught at various Sacramento public schools. Upon becoming a mother, Phyllis became a full-time housewife and enjoyed raising her 2 children and many dogs. She was an avid lover of both Cocker and Springer Spaniels. Phyllis was extremely active in 4-H for years. She is preceded in death by her father, Judge James H. Oakley; mother, Ann Elizabeth McKalip Oakley; step-mother, Jean Cowing Oakley; sister, Jeannie Yturbide; and husband of 50 years, Warren R. Tilson. Phyllis is survived by her children Eric Tilson (Lynda) and Anne Tilson; grandchildren, Jasmine, Peter, Ricky, Dakota and Ella; and 2 great-grand children.
