Peter Alan Alvarez (AKA) P.A. & Al, was born in Harlingen, Texas on August 4, 1928 to the later Peter Alan Alvarez, Sr. and Felicitas Alvarez. He passed away peacefully from this earthly life on Wednesday, September 3, 2014.
He spent his early years in Harlingen, Texas graduating from Harlingen High School. He then entered the United State Air Force at the young age of 17. He served over 20 years encompassing the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from serving his country in 1969. After retirement from the USAF he worked for the State of California, Department of Health Services until 1988 when he retired from state service.
While in the USAF he worked as a Medical Administrative Superintendant and First Sergeant of large medical groups as well as a Classified Documents Officer at Mather AFB., Sacramento, California.
His employment spans numerous positions which included his employment as a Sacramento County Service Officer with Veterans Affairs. In addition he was a nursing home administrator for the State of California. He later entered state service as a health facilities evaluator gaining promotions in the career field to district administrator for the Sacramento district office.
While working for the State of California, he attended courses at UCLA in California and Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He is preceded in death by his sons Robert Alan Alvarez and Richard Alvarez. He is survived by his beloved wife Bertha, his wife of 68 years; sister Ninfa Villarreal the last of four sisters, his daughters Marie Moore, (son-in-law Jack Moore), and Bertha Mitchel, (son-in-law Mark Mitchel); five grandsons, Michael Dunham, John Dunham, Brian Moore, Gregg Moore, Sascha Alvarez and one granddaughter, Terry Kalb (husband, Rick Kalb), and five great grand children, Sierra, Jacob, Alexis, Alyssa and Ricky. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and special friends.
