Norma Fay Maita

Norma passed away peacefully on August 24, 2013, only 10 months after her beloved husband Albert. Born April 20, 1931, she is survived by son Bruce (Robin); daughters Gayle (Bill), Jodie, and Kimberly (Paul); eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Norma and Albert, married for more than 60 years, met while attending Sacramento High School and married in 1949. She worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles before operating a child care and preschool in her home from 1964 to 1978. Norma belonged to the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, Alpha Nu chapter, E.S.A., and served as chapter president. She also belonged to a gourmet club, several golf clubs, and enjoyed traveling. She made numerous trips to the Monterey area, Hawaii, and Palm Springs with family and friends to play golf. Her fondest memories were those spent with the “Santa Cruz Group” which started as four small families and grew over the years to one big family of more than five generations. Her home was always a gathering place for weekend barbecues and celebrations for family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, September 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Boulevard. In lieu of flowers please give to the charity of your choice.
