Linda Kay O’Connor, 56, of Sacramento passed away on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017. She is survived by her husband, William Sr.; two children, Kristin and William Jr.; daughter-in-law, Shannon, and two grandchildren, Avery and Brenna.
Linda was born in 1961 in Sacramento, to Glenn and Jeanette Blackwell. She graduated from Rio Linda High School in 1979.
Linda and William Sr. were married in 1980. Linda began as a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy in 1979 and retired as a Sergeant in 2010. She was the National and Regional Treasurer for the International Police Association and a member of the Shamrock Club. Linda traveled extensively after her retirement including trips to Maui, England, France and Italy. At various times, Linda had a balloon pilot license, drove a motorcycle, and owned a small craft business. She was passionate, creative and adventurous, but above all she was a deeply committed to her family.
Linda was a lover of all things Disney, visiting Disneyland, Disney World and Disneyland Paris. She loved animals and a history of nurturing and rescuing pets including dogs, cats, ducks, birds, hamsters, and fish.
“The strongest woman I’ve ever met” was a common refrain about her; she could always be counted on and will be sorely missed.
