Kathy Lyke, 70, of Sacramento, California passed away on June 21, 2021. Kathy, a Sacramento native, was born to Albeno and Marian Santaga on July 23, 1950. She is survived by her husband Edward Lyke, mother Marian Santaga, daughter Christine Brown (Jamie), grandchildren Jamie and Kiersten Brown, sisters Marsha Anderson (Donald) and Michele Childers (Steven), daughter-in-law Rebecca Lyke and brothers-in-law Olin Lyke (Karen) and Larry Bratton (Jeanne), sister-in-law Barbara Ray and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy is preceded in death by her father Albeno Santaga, son Michael Lyke, and nephew Darryl Anderson.
Kathy attended elementary, junior high and high school in Sacramento. She met Edward in junior high school and they were married November 5, 1967. While raising a family, Kathy worked as a teacher’s aide and attended college to pursue her teaching credential. In 1983, Kathy graduated from CSUS and went on to teach elementary school in the Sacramento City Unified School District for 30 years. Kathy loved working with children, and volunteered her time with many organizations. She was a dedicated Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader for over 15 years, a volunteer for the Rosemont Little League and Soccer Club, and a room parent at James Marshall Elementary School.
Services will be held July 13, 2021 at Nicoletti, Culjis and Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento. The service will be at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kathy’s name to the Northern California Alzheimer’s Association.
