Kathleen passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019 from complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She passed away at her daughter Aliya’s home in Sacramento, CA where she was surrounded by loving family.
She was born on September 21, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to Lt. Col. Howard and Madeline Tripp. An “Air Force Brat” as Kathy would like to say, spent her younger part of her childhood moving around. Her latter part spent in Anchorage, Alaska and Taipei. She graduated from Ben Eielson High School at Eielson AFB, Alaska in 1968. When she left Alaska she left her heart behind there. Always reminiscing and wanting to someday go back. She then soon moved to California in 1970, where she started her life long career with the State of California. She started as a secretary and worked all the way up to a Labor Relations Analyst until she retired in 2010. She loved it so much she came out of retirement in 2011 and finally retiring in 2014.
Kathleen was diagnosed with ALS in September of 2019. Hers was an indomitable spirit trapped in a body that betrayed her. ALS may have caused her death but it never defeated her.
Kathleen is survived by her four children Aliya (Jennifer) Stowe, Scott Cull, Jamie Veirs, and Bryan Cull and her thirteen grandchildren Jordan, Alex, Niki, Kaylin, Bryan Jr, Bella, Kathleen (Katie), Casey, Eijaz, Emma, Abby, Rylan and Samuel.
