John was born in Covington, Kentucky on February 5, 1955. He moved to California with his family when he was just a year old first living in Riverside, California and then moving to Fresno, California. He attended elementary school at the Shrine of Therese, and then graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School. After John’s father Jerry passed away, John and his mother moved from Fresno to Sacramento where he lived for the past 31 years.
John had a warm smile and great sense of humor. He was a loving son and caregiver to his mother Elsie Farmer who lived to 100 years old, of which John was so proud and would tell almost everyone he met about her longevity.
John was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 and was courageous throughout his treatment. He maintained a positive attitude, working with his doctors and trusting in God.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Elsie (Mulligan) Farmer and his older brother Daniel Farmer. John is survived by his brothers and their spouses, Jerry, (Angeles-deceased), Michael (Kato),Thomas (Tina), Patrick (Jana) and his sister Mary Kay Lapham (Steve). He loved all of his nephews and nieces- Kaelin Farmer, Ryan Farmer (Sara), Kevin Farmer (Jill), Joshua Farmer (Whitney), Laura Lapham (Will), Lauren Farmer, (deceased), Brian Farmer and his two Great nieces, Isla and Gemma Farmer.
Experiencing John’s love and goodness will be missed by all who have known him. The pain that he experienced has ended. He has been welcomed into the company of family, friends and God.
