Ima Jane Bernstein

Ima Jane Bernstein, born in Rockwall, TX. On May 3, 1933 to James and Daisy Smith passed away peacefully at her home in Sacramento, CA. on December 13, 2023 at the age of 90. She married Tim Bernstein on November 29, 1957 in Sacramento, and raised 3 children together. After graduating from Adamson High School in Dallas, TX. she attended Central Free Methodist College in McPhearson, KS. and Sacramento State University where she earned her teaching credential. She taught elementary school for 7 years until her retirement in 1972 when she dedicated herself full time to raising her children. She was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ and her greatest joy in her children was that they became believers in Jesus Christ too. She loved to read, play card games, travel and interior decorating. She is preceded in death by her husband Tim who passed away on November 6, 2005. They enjoyed 48 years together until his passing. She is also preceded in death by all 9 of her siblings. She is survived by her children Kenneth, Amy Borghesi of Sacramento and Tina Nix of West Chester, OH; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She will be buried next to her husband at East Lawn Cemetery in Sacramento. A memorial service will be held at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home on January 27 at 11:00AM; 5401 Folsom Blvd. Sacramento, CA. 95819.
