George Anthony Schumacher, Jr. Born: June 12, 1925 West View, Pittsburgh PA Died: December 29, 2017, Sacramento, CA Born to George Anthony Sr. and Teresa Seethaler Schumacher in West View, PA. George Jr. crossed over to join his love, Bernice, on December 29, after a short illness. George excelled at North Catholic High School. George played football, offense and defense, and basketball, in addition to his senior year coaching freshman basketball. In 1943, after graduation from high school, he enlisted in the US Army Air Force Cadets. He was later assigned as navigator, a the rank of 1st lieutenant to a B17 Bomber Squadron serving in the Air Transport Command in the Azores, North Africa and Italy. When WWII ended in Europe, he was reassigned to Ellington Field in Houston to the College/US Army football team who traveled and played pro football teams until he was discharged in November 1945. George attended University of Pittsburgh from 1946 to 1950, graduating with a BS in Civil Engineering. While there he played freshman year football for Pitt, and served as President of Phi Kappa fraternity. George married the love of his life, Bernice, daughter of Bernard Joseph and Helen Vollmer Wickline, on September 3, 1949 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Bellevue, PA. George was employed with H.H. Robertson Co in Ambridge, PA after hiring in 1952. Later in 1961, he transferred to Stockton CA to open and run the Western Division of Manufacturing. George worked long hard hours to get the plant going successfully, and saw his efforts pay off with the H.H. Robertson becoming the leader in the manufacturing of the floor and deck products worldwide, also becoming the leader in producing the worlds number ONE wall panel. He retired as Vice President in 1987 after 35 years with the company. They are survived by the 3 children, Mary "Carol" Hayden (Peter) of Laguna Hills, CA Kathryn Ann Bernardis (Paul) of Sacramento, CA, George III "Chip"(Vera Ramirez) of Folsom, CA, and 7 grandchildren.
