George was born on March 21, 1948 to Noy Way and Yuen Hom in ToiShan, China. At the age of 11, him and his family, moved to Sacramento, California and he has lived here since. He graduated from C.K McClatchy High School and continued his education at Sacramento City College (SCC). After his studies at SCC, he worked as a store clerk for various grocery stores and ended up working for Raley’s for over 35 years. Then in 1988, he married Pauline and had two children together, Carissa and Bradford.
He has always been a very active person and was very much into martial arts. In his thirties, he went to San Francisco to study the Northern Praying Mantis martial arts form. After retirement, he started getting interested in Tai Chi and learned the Yang Style Tai Chi form. He had gotten so passionate about Tai Chi that he actually taught his own Tai Chi class at ACC Senior Services Center up until the pandemic hit. He was very proud that he was able to inspire others to get up and exercise.
Besides martial arts, he was also an avid San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers fan. He made sure he knew the schedule when the season came on so he could cheer on his favorite team from the comfort of his own home.
George is survived by his wife Pauline, his daughter Carissa, his son Bradford, and his sister Margie.
We take comfort knowing that he is at peace and is no longer fighting this cancer.
