Eric James Cameron, 45, was born on March 26, 1972 in Sacramento, California to Gary and Sharon Cameron. He was very proud to say that he attended Jesuit High School (class of 91), and even more proud to say that’s how he met his wife, Shannon, who went to Saint Francis High School (90). Eric then went on to attend California State University, Long Beach, where he acquired his degree in Communication Studies. A degree which, as many know, he used very well to converse with everyone. There usually wasn’t a place that Eric went that he didn’t know someone.
When Eric was diagnosed with cancer, he chose to fight. “Why would I throw in the towel when I can fight and be with you for longer?” he would say. For everyone who knew Eric, you knew that this was just his attitude. He lived for others. In fact, everything he did was to usually benefit someone else. Both a family man and a hard worker, when Eric was at work he cared most about his clients, always trying to come up with the best solution to meet their needs. As a 3rd generation Farmers Insurance agent and owner, Eric was very committed to his business and the work that was done there. But at home, Eric committed himself to an entirely different cause, and that was being an amazing husband and father. After death, Eric leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Shannon, as well as his three children: Simone, Tyler, and Hunter. He also leaves behind his dad, Gary, his brother, Michael (Juana), and so many others who loved him dearly. Eric is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Cameron.
Eric was an active parishioner of St. Mary Church. Together, he and his family would attend the 6pm mass where he served as an usher and very recently the Altar Server Coordinator. He loved his parish, and his faith meant everything to him. Besides being an active church member, Eric could be seen rocking out to his favorite bands such as Neil Diamond, Journey, and countless others. He loved his music and his sports! If a game was on, he’d either be cheering on the Los Angeles Dodgers, Sacramento Kings, or the San Francisco 49ers. Eric was very much on-the-go. In fact, there was rarely a day where you could just find him not doing something productive. One of his favorite things to do was to surprise his family. More often than not, he would tell everyone to just get in the car and he’d drive. It didn’t matter where the location. He just wanted to have that time with his family, whatever the destination may be. To make those memories with the ones he held most dear. And so he did.
Eric passed away on March 2, 2018. The ones he left behind will forever remember his infectious smile, sense of humor, and his love for others. His services will be held on March 15, 2018 at St. Mary Church at 11am. Anyone whose life he touched is welcome to attend. Reception to follow in Giovanni Hall, which the family will join after a private inurnment. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Eric's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Mary Parish Building Fundraiser. https://secure.etransfer.com/EFT/BlockCode/donation1.cfm?d2org=StMarysSacramento&d2tool=donate
