Dorothy is survived by her niece Frances Dickson Jones of Sacramento, CA; Frances’
husband, Lisle Jones; Her grand nephews, Randolph Jones and his wife Ginger; Zachary
Jones and his wife Chrisy, of Sacramento, CA, and numerous great grand nieces and
nephews. She is preceded in death by her Husband Roy St John; her parents Fredric
Dickson, Katherine Gutenberger, Her brothers Fredrick Dickson and Elmer Dickson. All of
Sacramento, CA
Dorothy was born on May 21, 1918 in Carmichael, CA to Fredric Dickson and Katherine
Gutenberger. Dorothy graduated from San Juan High School in 1936; she also graduated
from Sacramento Junior College in 1938 with a degree in Business. She married Roy in
1950. Dorothy began working for the State of California in the Department of Education as
a secretary for 38.8 years.
Dorothy will be remembered for her beautiful smile and the kindness she extended to
everyone, her sense of humor & all her crafting and sewing that she did.. She was an
active and dedicated member of St. John’s Lutheran Church located at 17th and L Sts. in
downtown Sacramento.
A funeral is scheduled for 2:00pm at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger, with a reception to follow .
Pastor Jon Haug with St. John’s Lutheran Church will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to
attend and celebrate Dorothy’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Sutter Hospice.

The family would like to thank Dorothy’s caregivers Ginger and Randy Jones, Naomi Beard,
Tamari Mararaw, and Marietta Myers for their dedication, love, care, that they have shown
Dorothy over the last 11 years. A special thank you to the Nurses at Sutter Care at Home for
providing support in caring for Dorothy and Chaplains Tim and Dale for bringing Holy
Communion and the love of God to Dorothy while she was on Hospice.
