Dorothy Berniece Smith

Dorothy B. Smith passed away peacefully with her family at her side on April 8, 2014. Dorothy was born on April 16, 1911 in Stockton, California. Her parents were Myrtle B. Fugitt and Fred Casteline. Her husband, Charles R. Smith predeceased her, but she is survived by her children: daughters, Charlene Drabant (Bob) and Carolyn “Pat” Macchiavelli, and her son, Loren “Mike” Smith (Pat). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy attended the University of California, Berkeley, was a homemaker for most of her life but upon the death of her husband, became a school administrator at then Bishop Armstrong High School, and later Sacramento High School. Dorothy was active for several years in St. Mary’s Parish events until just a few years ago. She led a very active and healthy life and will be greatly missed by her family. A special thanks to Frances, Grace and Laisa for their loving care the past few months. A Rosary will be held on April 15, 2014 at 7:00 pm at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home located at 5401 Folsom Blvd. Sacramento, and a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 1333 58th St., Sacramento, on April 16, 2014 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Bristol Hospice, St. Mary’s Church or a charity of your choice.
