Passed away peacefully on April 7, 2017 surrounded by her family. A native of Sacramento, born October 16 1928 to Blanche K. and Albert Jacinto. Married to Francis G. “Jerry” Collins for over 50 years. Together they raised five children, Judy Schoer (Darrell), Susan MacDonald (Mark), Michael Collins, Marc Collins (Kelly). Nana to six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, Jerry Collins, her parents, her sisters, Betty A. Garcia and Florence I. Waddams. Also survived by her brother-in-law, Frank Garcia, Jr., three nieces and their children and many friends. She was a super fan of the Sacramento Kings! Maker of amazing fried chicken. Mom loved playing slot machines, Bingo, board games, bowling, her dog Sheila and a great cheese burger! Most of all, she was simply proud of her family. Doris was recently enjoying her “New Life” at the Carlton-Fulton Avenue. The staff at the Carlton was wonderful and caring to Mom as she started on her new path and we thank them. The family wishes to thank Sutter General ICU nurses Rhea and Chris for their loving care and support during a difficult time. Remembrances can be made to the Sutter Foundation Hospice programs or a charity of your choice.
Visitation from 4 PM to 7PM and Rosary at 7PM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd. Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 12 Noon at St. Mary’s Church, 1333 58th St. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 6700 21st Ave. Celebration of Life to follow immediately after at the Sacramento Association of Realtors Event Center, 2003 Howe Avenue Sacramento, CA 95825.
