Don was a long time resident of Sacramento. He was born to Elizabeth (Taylor) Banks and Donald Banks in Jersey City, New Jersey. Don was a World War II veteran. He served his country in the Army AirCorps as a radio/radar technician. He was a dedicated Communications Engineer at Cal Trans for the state of California for 35 years. He was an Elk Lodge #6 member for 54 years. He enjoyed and loved his family, camping, traveling, and performing and teaching magic. He was very active in the local magic community.
Don passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends after a short illness. He will be loved and missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marliee (Timothy) Banks; daughters, Kim Longton (Walt), Libby Banks, and Amy Dorsey; grandchildren Rachel Boyd (Tyler), Thomas Payne, Marshall Dorsey, Carson Dorsey, and Hannah Dorsey. Don also has great-grandchildren Tanner, Grace, and Theo Boyd.
Visitation will take place on Tues. November 15th from 4-7 p.m. followed by a Rosary service at 7 p.m. at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd. Sacramento, CA. Don’s Funeral Mass will be held on Wed. November 16th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1333 58th St. Sacramento, CA. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
