During the evening of January 6th, 2017, Dee passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the age of 90. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. After decades of suffering from several painful illnesses, Dee was gently lifted up to the heavens in an angelic embrace. Now at peace, and pain free.
Born Dolores May Deweese on November 25, 1926, to James, and Bernice Deweese in Onalaska, Washington. Resident of Sacramento since 1975. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years Robert G. Coates. Loving mother to Christine Ann Sayre, Cathleen Sue Macy, and son Steven Robert Coates.
Dee had many varied interests that she was passionate about. From her love of her garden, particularly her roses, the ocean, playing piano, travel, antiques and Dixieland Jazz.
Dee was most passionate about her family, and close friends. They came first before anything else. The love, devotion, and caring nature that she exhibited to her husband, children, and friends, was never ending. A woman of class, dignity, strength, resilience, and courage. She was blessed with a kind heart, a sharp wit, a dry sense of humor, a wry smile, and a contagious laugh. Dee was nothing short of a truly remarkable woman.
Survived by daughter Christine Ann Sayre (Bill) of Sparks, Nevada, daughter Cathleen Sue Macy of Sacramento, and son Steven Robert Coates of Sacramento. Granddaughters Michelle Levrett of Sparks, Nevada, and Amy Schultz of Sacramento. Grandsons Brian Macy of Temecula, California, and Robert Coates of Sacramento.
