Connie was born on August 23, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to Carl Maynard and Fairy Bell Brown. She had three sisters – Thelma, Barbara, and Cathy who all predeceased her.
Connie married John W. Linker in 1951 while he was completing his US Air Force basic training in San Antonio. During John’s military service, they lived in Fairbanks, Alaska; March AFB in CA; Newfoundland, Canada; and finally at Beale AFB in CA. She worked at the Main Exchange on the base for 24 years, beginning her career as a sales clerk and ending as a supervisor. In 1975, they retired to Penn Valley, CA. John predeceased her in 1998, and she remained in Penn Valley until 2018.
Connie enjoyed gardening and loved tending to her roses. She was also fond of trips to Reno and doing some occasional gambling. She had a great love for animals, and they all loved her as well; however, her greatest love and joy in life was spending time with her family. She loved taking care of them and was her happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her.
Connie is survived by her four children, Jimmy Linker (wife Linda) of Tucson, AZ; Linnette Lehr (husband Denis) of Sacramento, CA; Gerald Linker (wife Victoria) of Sacramento, CA; and Lance Linker (wife Lori) of Land of Lakes, FL. She was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren: Henry, Billy, Ruth, Megan, Grace, Jake, Kori, Kelli, Emily, Elise, Lillian, and Ian; 16 great-grandchildren: Asher, Darcy, Bailey, Thomas, Vincent J., Patrick, Madison, Joshua, Kylen, Noah, Ruby, Alex, Emma, Vincent H., Logan, and Blake; and many other nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home at 5401 Folsom Blvd., Sacramento, CA on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Thomas Rupp will officiate, and a small reception will follow immediately. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Connie’s life. She will be laid to rest on Tuesday, September 13, 1:30 pm at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, CA. Burial will be private.
