Amelia E. Cornelius Armstrong was an honest, dedicated, pure servant of God. At an early age she learned to trust in Jesus, and his words in the Church of God in Christ under her mother and father, Elder Elmo Cornelius and Missionary Lucille Jackson. Amelia grew up in Sacramento, Ca attending CK McClatchy High School graduating in 1955. Amelia had an infectious way of showing unconditional love, words of positivity, and touching the lives of those around her. Amelia’s life displayed a strong character for helping the youth, and connecting with those that needed a warm heart. Amelia was the oldest of four children: Mary, Elmo, Priscilla.
Amelia was a loving wife for 27 years to Rev. Joseph L. Armstrong until his passing in 1998. Not only was she a loving wife, but a mother, grandmother, business owner of The Armstrong Family Home, and first lady of the New Gethsemane Baptist Church. Her family home catered to children that were developmentally delayed. Amelia devoted her time, energy, and love to her family, family home, and church. Amelia always made sure to promote the word of Jesus Christ to those that crossed her path. In later years after her husband’s passing she joined Williams Memorial church of God in Christ under the Elder Meeks.
In 1998 Amelia retired from owning Armstrong Family Home, and dedicated her later years to raising her two great grandchildren Tyonia Aisha Presley walker and Oranasia Tygier Presley Reynolds. She loved every moment of being with her two great grandchildren. These two ladies kept her moving each and every day. In addition to the Great Grand Children, Amelia enjoyed her talks of the bible with grandson MeDene Presley. It was the simple things that each grandchild did that made her smile.
Over the years Amelia has battled with several health illnesses. However, her strong faith and heart kept her moving forward in life. It’s because of her relationship with the Lord that drove her to fight. Amelia was determined to be here with us, but in the end she went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
