Aaron James Price was born in Leon County, Florida on September 1, 1983, to Terri Bradford and Alvin Price. Aaron attended elementary school in Seattle, Washington and Hayward, California. He graduated from Mt. Eden High School in Hayward and completed his United States Navy Recruit Training, on January 4, 2002, in Great Lakes, Illinois. He took pride in serving in the Navy and often talked about his travels and the things he learned aboard an aircraft carrier.
Aaron wrote an Opinion Article for the Oakland Post Newspaper (Weekly Edition, July 26-August 1, 2017). The articled was titled “Against the Odds: From Homeless Veteran to Acceptance at UC Berkely.” In the article he recalls his struggles after leaving the Navy and becoming a father to two children. He said, “I realized that my children needed me and that I have to be there for them.”
Aaron was part of the Alameda County Black Infant Health Program; became a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and worked at the Oakland Freedom School, where he was a teacher and mentor. He graduated from Laney College in 2016 and 2017, with honors. He received two Associate Degrees in Language Arts, Social Science, African American Studies, and Psychology. He received both the Dean and President Medallions and the Chancellor’s Trophy. He attended UC Berkley and had planned to receive his PhD in Behavioral Science and “give back” to his community.
Aaron James Price passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
Aaron was a deep thinker, a caring friend, loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and dad. His care and devotion to his children was always apparent. He enjoyed reading, hiking, playing basketball, hanging out with his family and friends. And especially going on fun and educational road trips with his children. Aaron always said, “Family First.”
Aaron was predeceased by his grandmother, Mary Peterson and brothers Alton Price Sr., and Robert Wheeler Jr.
He leaves to mourn his: father Alvin Price Sr. and his wife Martha; mother Terri Bradford;
grandparents David and Delores Farrell; brothers Alvin Price Jr., Delfonte Peacock, Teagen Bradford, Terrance Bradford, and Charles Howard; sisters Karess Wheeler, Cora Price, Malinda Barnes, and Quila Robinson and her husband Cornelius; children, Aaron Price Jr., Chaaliyah Rankins-Price, Jaden Bradford, Amari Price, Alijah Price; aunts and uncles and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. And his constant companion - his dog, “Laney”.
A family receiving friends for Aaron will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Harry A. Nauman & Son, 4041 Freeport Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95822. Following the family receiving friends will be a committal service with military honors with the united states navy at 12:30 PM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620.
