Susan Sassi Byard

She was born in Rumford, Maine on September 12, 1953, daughter of Lloyd and Antonine (Chiasson) Sassi. Susan was first employed at Rumford Community Hospital, where she met her husband James. After raising her two daughters, she worked as a Floral Designer at Davis Florist with the “Davis Daisies.”

She enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, basket making, gardening, trips to Popham Beach, and picnics at Screw Auger Falls.

Susan especially relished gatherings with her “S&B” girls and summers spent at Roxbury Pond.

She is survived by her mother Antonine C. Sassi of Rumford, two brothers; Kenneth and his wife Charlene Sassi of Damariscotta, Keith Sassi and his wife Christine of New Port Richey, Florida, two daughters Alyson Byard of Farmington, Brenna Parent and husband Ryan Parent of Mexico, and grandson Jameson Parent of Mexico.

She was predeceased by her husband James E. Byard Jr. and her father Lloyd G. Sassi.

The family wishes to thank the amazing staff, nurses, and doctors at the Lariviere Oncology Department, Rumford Community Hospital, Central Maine Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital, and all of Susan’s family, friends, and neighbors who loved and supported her throughout her life journey.
