Rumford – Patricia McHale Gautreau, 88, longtime resident of Rumford and Mexico, passed away on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at Rumford Community Home following a courageous battle with Dementia. She was born in Rumford on May 9, 1929 a daughter of Leo Peter and Margaret (Leeman) McHale. Pat was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephen’s High School Class of 1947. She married Armand H. Gautreau on June 28, 1948 and together they raised three children. Pat was employed for a few years at Oxford Paper Co. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a life member of the Daughters of Isabella. Pat was a volunteer at the What Not Shop and Meroby School, and enjoyed berry picking, sewing and knitting. She loved being at her camp at Roxbury Pond spending time with family and friends and especially loved the time and memories with her grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Daniel P. Gautreau of Roxbury, Sandra Lavertu and companion Bob Hodgkins of Mexico, and Susan Lizotte and husband Michael of Rumford; a sister, Dorothy Benedix of Rumford; a brother, Francis McHale and wife Alice of Virginia; a brother in law, Rudolph Gautreau of Florida; nine grandchildren, Gregory Lavertu, Lynn Townsend, Jessica Andersen, Dan McCann, Rebecca Sabine, Renee Lizotte, Angela Collette, Brianne Johnston and Dawn Collette; and many great grandchildren She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Armand Gautreau, three sisters, Ellen Vallee, Margaret Howes and Catherine Burrill, a brother James McHale, and a sister in law Anita Spydell.
