PERU - Juliette Nora Cormier, 97, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Peru after a brief illness with cancer. She was born in Rumford, Maine on September 26, 1925. Nora was the middle child of Howard and Sarah (Leger) Hebert.
Nora retired from Diamond International in Peru. She was a member of the Parish of the Holy Savior, the Fraternal Order of Eagles (she was the last remaining Charter member) and belonged to the Red Hatters in Florida, where she spent many winters. She was an avid (some may say professional) bingo player where she met many wonderful people.
Nora was married in Rumford to Ernest Cormier on June 29, 1947. After their retirement and raising their 3 children, they relocated to New Brunswick, Canada, splitting their time between there and their home in St. Petersburg, Florida. They celebrated 47 wonderful years together until his passing on January 4, 1994.
Surviving are her daughters Cecilia Child, Terry Drury (Stuart), and her daughter-in-law Karen Cormier; grandchildren Tamera Child (Mike), John “Brother” Child (Heather), Tracy Wilson (Bryan), Amanda Behnke (Wade), Aaron Cormier, Derek Cormier (Jamie), Katlin Drury (Lee), and Holly Cormier Winter; great-grandchildren Ambyr St. Germain (Cody), Kelsey Wilson (Colin), Connor and Brayden Harrington, Jacob and Gwyneth Behnke, Jadyn and John “Grady” Child, and Megan Cormier; great-great-grandchildren Ashton St. Germain and baby St. Germain #2, along with many nieces and nephews.
Nora was predeceased by her husband, Ernest, her son Ernie, her son-in-law John Child, along with all her siblings, Bella Hebert, Geraldine Ruff, Doris Thompson, Mildred Carver, Leroy Hebert, and Roger Hebert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on April 14, 2023 at the Parish of the Holy Savior, 126 Maine Ave. in Rumford at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow below the church.
