Rumford, ME - Daniel Roger Roy of Rumford, Maine passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2025 at the age of 64. He was born on January 3, 1961 at the Rumford Hospital. Though Dan periodically resided in other towns in Maine, he always found his way back to Rumford, where he lived and worked for most of his years. He recently retired from his job at the Rumford paper mill after dedicating more than 40 years of his life to it.
Dan was a friendly guy with a huge personality who didn’t hesitate to strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. To him, a stranger was just a “friend in the making.” He lived in the moment, which was especially true when he would visit his happy place, the Oxford Casino. Nothing gave Dan more joy than spending the day there with his brother, Jim, cheerfully playing the slots alongside him. Afterward, he was always ready with a story about his big casino winnings.
Dan was a Harley guy and never turned away from an opportunity to trade-up his ride. He took great pride in each new motorcycle and truck he purchased, of which there were many. The area dealerships will surely miss his frequent visits.
Dan is survived by his partner Michelle of six years; sisters Janet (Joseph) of Woodstock, GA and Debra (Paul) of North Port, FL; brother James (Marsha) of Roxbury, ME; and five nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Roger in 2020 and his mother Dorene in 2023.
Dan left this world much too soon. He left us with holes in our hearts that will never be filled. We will miss him.
