He was born in Rumford, Maine in September 1925 a son of William and Rose (Chabot) Gautreau.
Chester was educated in Rumford schools.
He served in the US Army during WWII, and served in the Battle of the Bulge.
Chester was employed for 33 ½ years with Oxford Paper Company.
Chester lived in Rumford most of his life and following retirement in 1975 has resided in Palmetto Florida. He worked setting up mobile homes in the park where he lived.
He was a communicant of Holy Cross Church in Florida.
Chester was a member of the LeParesseux Snowshoe Club, the American Legion, and Past Commander of the VFW.
Chester enjoyed golfing, boating and fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years Theresa (Arsenault) Gautreau of Palmetto, Florida; a brother Erene Gautreau of Rumford; a sister, Alfreda Bernard of Rumford; a special niece, Jeannette (Arsenault) Mason of Harpswell; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a brother William Gautreau, three sister, Lorraine Arsenault, Marjorie Coulombe, and Geraldine Lyons.
