Wilma Baker Pettepher Lucas

Wilma Baker Pettepher Lucas, age 97, of Roswell, Georgia, formerly of Snellville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021.

Wilma was born to the late Josephus Lamar Baker and the late Eva Pearl Yancey Baker on December 29, 1923 in Turner County, Georgia. She was one of six children.

After high school, Wilma furthered her studies focusing in finance. She worked as a book keeper for JP Allen, Gossard, North American Acceptance Corporation and Atlanta Typewriter Co. She had two children: Rick and Ron. She later married the late William T. Lucas and her family grew to include children, William, Jr, Kathryn, Terry and Nick.

Wilma was an avid reader, master at crocheting and knitting, and enjoyed gardening. She was an expert seamstress and tailor – the many stunning outfits were made with both love and quality to stand the test of time.

Wilma was a beloved and longtime member of First Baptist Church Snellville. She was a dedicated member of the Senior Group and cherished fellowship with her church family.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, Josephus Lamar Baker and Eva Pearl Yancey Baker; sisters, Alda Williams (Cliff), Ima Smith (Charlie), Eunice Spratlin (William), and Dorothy Slappy (LeRome); her only brother, Aubrey Baker, who was born 7 years and a day apart preceded her by only two days, passing on July 17, 2021; and daughter in law, Dianne Lucas.

Her memory will be cherished by her children, Richard “Rick” Stanley Pettepher (Talitha), John Ronald “Ron” Pettepher (Lynn), William T. Lucas Jr. (Sharon), Kathryn L. Cannon (Roger), Terry L. Woodrum (Kenneth), and Nick Lucas; grandchildren, Tiffany, Matthew, Eric, Erin, Kelly, Charlie, Katie, Michael, Rachel, Rebecca, Rosemary and their spouses; many great-grandchildren; and other beloved extended family members.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, 699 American Legion Rd, NE, Conyers, GA 30012 with Reverend Eddie Card officiating. Burial will follow.
