I am so saddened to learn about Verlyn.   He was one of the greatest men I knew.  I worked with him for many years.  He taught me so much and I have a lot respect for him.   I will miss him, but will  always have beautiful memories of him.

Sandy, I just saw that your daddy had passed. I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for your comfort and that of your family. We love you and miss you and think of you often.

My sincere sympathies to the Tanksley Family. Verlyn and I worked together. He was a dedicated professional and one of the nicest men I had the pleasure to know. I knew him to be a loving family man who was kind and generous to others. Fond memories. May you be comforted in your grief. 

I have much sorrow to hear of Uncle Verlyn's passing. This is a difficult and trying time across the world. My fondest memories are of Uncle Verlyn each year at the Tanksley reunion. When he had something to say, I always wanted to listen because I knew it would be something to hear! I enjoy hearing about he and Dad's trips to Canada, and the various trips they went on. My thoughts and prayers are with Sarah, the kids and grandkids and all the Tanksley family at this time.  Love to all.....

Verlyn was probably the most generous man I have ever met.  Verlyn didn't say much but when he did speak it was worth listening to.  I will miss him a lot.

I will always remember my Uncle Verlyn as a man who loved God and had such a giving heart. His strength was a comfort to the whole extended clan. He will be greatly missed.  My Aunt Emma Claire Ellington asked me to post a memory (see below).

From Emma Claire Ellington:  Verlyn was so good to me; he always treated me just like his own sister. I could a write a book of all the good things he did for me. He was also so good to my mother.  His generosity was tremendous. One example was when a tree fell on my house and he found some men to take care of it and paid for it all himself.  Also, whenever the Joiner family gathered, he always picked up the tab. He was such a blessing to our whole family.
