Carole and Christel, I am so sorry for your loss. I can never think of Tommy without remembering his bubbling personality and constant smile. He was one of my favorite kids as he came through my lunch line short of change, with that happy-go-lucky grin! He always paid me back, he wanted me to have his back the next time. He was a joy, may your wonderful memories bring you comfort.

I am sorry for your loss. Being a father, I can not imagine the feelings and pain you are going through.  The pain may not go away, but I pray it will lessen with time and the memories you have will help soften the rough edges of your loss.  
The entries speak volumes of your son's love of other people and their feelings and I hope those fond memories will help you in this time of loss, for the good stays on.

Dearest Carole,
We were all devastated, shocked and deeply saddened by the news of Tommy's passing.  Our first question was why?  Why would someone so young, vibrant and full of purpose be taken away long, long before it was time.  You have been such a loving, supportive mother to your son and I hope you take a small measure of comfort in knowing how fortunate he was to be your little boy.  Although we cannot imagine, nor fathom, the unbearable pain you are feeling, we will be here for you in the passing days, weeks and months.  Please reach out to us whenever you need a shoulder or a hug, and we will be there for you.  Please hold tight to your memories of Tommy as the strong courageous soldier, your precious only son and an incredible loving father to Julia.  All who knew Tommy, through school, work, college, the neighborhoods and towns where he lived and especially his Army buddies - will never forget him.  The world is certainly a better place because of him, and we will miss him.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.

 It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

 God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not  be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;

I had the privilege to work with Tommy for a short time. He was truly a inspiration to me and our team. He was always joking and having a good time . Tommy thank you for serving our country and being the friend and co-worker that you are.

My sincerest condolences to Tommy, Carole and the family. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the pleasure of knowing Tommy, and he had the BIGGEST heart out of anyone I've ever known. He even use to help me clean John Barnwell and Kevin Doonan's kitchen at GA Southern (yuck)! My heart and prayers go out to his family. I'll miss you Tommy!

I grew up in pinewalk a few streets over from tommy. I remember my big brother making sure I got to the bus stop okay on my first day of 8th grade and Tommy standing waiting for the bus and asking Chris about me. You could tell he was very protective of "little sisters" as he was a great big brother to his sister.  One thing that always stood out was his big grin.  May your soul fly high Tommy.

I still remember when Tommy first came to our unit at Ft. Lewis. He immediately fit in, telling jokes and stories from back home. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Tommy. I have so many fun memories of growing up with him, I know Bos greeted him in heaven with a huge hug and the two of them are watching down on all of us. Sending so much love to you all.

Prayers for the Yacovella family today and in the days to come. Tommy was our neighbor in Vidalia. He was always friendly and talkative. Tommy never failed to wave, say hello, or invite us to do things with them. He will be missed.

Tommy was one of the very first people I met when I moved to Alpharetta. I was so nervous with being at a new school & trying to find where my next class was. Tommy was quick to offer me help & make sure I got to my next class. Tommy was an amazing person inside & out. We definitely had some good laughs together. Tommy you were one of the first people I met when I moved from Miami.
