Steve Shelton of Roswell, GA, passed away Monday March 9, 2015, at the age of 61. Steve was born in Atlanta, GA and was a graduate of Georgia Tech. His hobbies included wiffle ball, Leyland ball, golf, rafting the Chattahoochee, traveling to Boston, MA and Lovingston, VA to visit his brother, sister and their families. He is preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Shelton; mother, Eleanor Shelton; father-in-law, Richard Cox and mother-in-law, Sara Blanche Cox. He is survived by his wife, Debora Cox Shelton; son, Jason Shelton; daughter, Sara Shelton; brother, Stan Shelton (Dotty); sisters, Janet Puckett(Ed), DeeDee Elliot (Mike), Donita Smith (Kenny), and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steve was a loving husband to Debbie and an engaged and dedicated father to Jason and Sara. And to all who knew him, he was a consummate friend, a compassionate soul and a never ending bundle of positive energy. Steve treasured his friendships with all those he knew, across the range of communities he touched, whether his neighborhood, the broad Roswell community, his childhood friends, his Georgia Tech relations and his close relationships with his colleagues at work. As probably everyone knows, Steve loved everything about Roswell. He loved the people, his backyard down to the pine straw, every restaurant on Canton Street, especially Zest. And he and Debbie loved participating in all aspects of Jason’s and Sara’s lives, whether coaching sports for Jason, cruising Canton Street and beyond with Sara and her friends, helping with homework, or simply hanging out as a family and their many special friends. As has been said for many, many years, when Steve walked into the room he “lit up the place.” And this light will continue to shine for years to come. The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 11, 2015 from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Roswell Funeral Home. A memorial Service will be held on Thursday March 12, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Roswell Presbyterian Church. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held following the memorial service at Pastis Resturant, 928 Canton Street, Roswell, GA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Leukemia Lymphoma Society. https://donate.lls.org/lls/donate
