Stan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and an avid sports lover. He was known for his love hate relationship with the Atlanta Braves & his commitment to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs.
Stan graduated from Glascock County High School in Gibson, Ga in 1973. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1973 and served 4 years. He then served in the Naval Reserve on weekends at Dobbins Air Force Base in Marietta, Ga. It is here that he met a lifelong friend, Steve Berens, also in the Naval Reserves. Steve introduced his sister, Pam, to Stan in 1980. Stan & Pam married in June 1982 and remained married for 42 years. He was a very proud veteran and loved his country deeply.
Stan was employed by Burdick Corp. in 1977 and in 1983 he took a leap of faith and started his own company repairing & selling medical equipment. He started the business out of the basement of their home. The business grew successfully and after 30 years, in June 2013, he sold the business and retired. Throughout his life Stan was dedicated to providing for his family. His hard work & perseverance paved the way for many opportunities, for which his family remains forever grateful. His jovial spirit and love for jokes will live on in all of us, along with his incessant need to correct Bobby Cox on play calling in the bottom of the 9th. Although he could be a fair weather fan with sports, we know he will be cheering us all on from above.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Pamela Poole; daughter, Shannon Poole; son & daughter-in-law, Chris & MacKenzie Poole; sister & brother-in-law, Anita & George Thompson and close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Louise Stanfield Poole; his father, Jerold Evans Poole.
A funeral will be held on September 30, 2024 12:00PM at Roswell Funeral Home in Roswell, Ga to celebrate Stan's life and honor his contributions to this world. Following the service, Stan will be laid to rest with military honors at Green Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Stan loved animals so in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Stan to K9's for Warriors https://k9sforwarriors.org/
Stan's departure leaves a void in our hearts, but his legacy will forever be cherished.
