Robyn Story Planchard, age 73, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Robyn was born on August 7, 1947 in Kissimmee, Florida, the daughter of Clyde E. Story and Jean Bass Story.
Robyn retired from the Georgia Department of Education as a Title I Education Program Specialist on August 1, 2020 after a 52 year career as an educator. After graduating from Louisiana State University in 1969 and while obtaining her Master of Education from LSU in 1982, she taught students for 30 years in grades Kindergarten through 8 in Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, and Georgia before becoming an administrator and earning her Educational Specialist degree in 2005. Robyn was the founding principal of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic School in 2002 in Kennesaw, GA. She came within a few credits of her dream of obtaining her PhD before being sidelined by her diagnosis.
Robyn was a Communicant, Eucharistic Adoration Guardian, and a 2016 participant of CRHP at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell, GA. She was smart, elegant, fun, witty, and she maintained her sense of humor and her love of manicured nails, jewelry and shoes, even throughout her battle with cancer. Robyn enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Along with her parents, Robyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Charles “Chip” Planchard, Jr. and her son Charles “Chet” Planchard, III, as well as her sister Sherry Evans and her brother Wade Story. Robyn is survived by her two loving daughters, Amanda Planchard and Shannon Planchard Vickers, her grandchildren Charles and Sara Vickers, her brothers Ronald Story and Dirk Story, her sister Melanie Alonso, 9 sisters-in-law, 7 brothers-in-law, and multiple beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church at 11330 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA.
