Bob is known for his love of family and his country. He began his career as an accountant for Standard Oil Company leaving his job to serve his country as a Sgt. Major of the 72nd tank battalion, second infantry in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the army, Bob went on to work for the Florida Department of Corrections in Florida as a business manager, Assistant Superintendent and ultimately Warden. After retiring from the Department of Corrections, he worked in private industry as Executive Vice President of National Corrections Management, Inc until 1996. He earned a degree from Barry University in Miami and was a member of the Mensa Society. Bob was not one to sit still so in retirement, he obtained his realtor license as well as worked as a construction supervisor for John Weiland Homes.
Bob enjoyed giving back by helping establish the Mount Bethel Veterans group and volunteered for years with USO at Atlanta Hartsfield Airport greeting veterans and serving fellow soldiers as they were being deployed or returning from active service.
His fondest childhood memories was his grandfather teaching him penmanship when he was a young child. Bob had remarkable penmanship and also loved western movies especially Gene Autry films. He was also especially proud of the fact all of his children graduated from college. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and was an avid Florida gator fan. Bob had a huge sense of humor and at random moments, would sing “ Whatcha gonna do when the well runs dry…honey?” Having fought for his country, Bob would routinely write his congressmen and Senators expressing his concerns for issues facing our country and on occasion, would receive a phone call from his elected representatives.
