ROBERT “BUD” BODEN, 93, rollerbladed through the Gates of Heaven on Friday, September 9, 2022. Surely upon entrance, he flung his arms around the first angel in line to welcome him: his beautiful Joyce -- soul mate, sweetheart, and devoted wife of 66 years. A spirited celebration followed, attended by cherished foregone family & friends as well as Bud’s beloved furry companions, Katy, Callie, Amy, & Barney…lest we forget the family’s 18 guinea pigs! Undeniably, the event was anchored by an extraordinary Big Band performance.

Bud’s family was his heart and joy. Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, he and Joyce permanently moved their family of five to Roswell, GA in 1965, a decision they never, ever regretted for even a mere split second. Bud is survived by his three children, Bonnie Hansen (Kirk); Susann Hodges (Larry); Charles Boden (Erin), who graced him with two wonderful grandchildren, Lauren & Cameron. Also dear to Bud’s heart are his surviving niece and nephews: George & Barry and Diane & Fred.

During Bud’s golden years of retirement, fate would place him in a fetching group of peers, who together, at the local Dunkin Donuts shop, claimed to solve world problems. Deep, genuine friendships were built and treasured over warm donuts and sips of piping hot coffee. These Donut Buddies meant the world to ole Bud.

The family would like to acknowledge our heartfelt appreciation to Golden Rule Hospice, especially to Penny Crews, a remarkable RN and Bud’s primary hospice caretaker. Through her compassionate care, she nurtured Bud through a peaceful heavenly transition. We would’ve been completely lost without Penny.

We will remember Bud’s unwavering faith in God, his zest for life, and his legendary charisma. He made a marked, positive difference in the lives of so many, especially in his three children. We invite you to join us to celebrate this unforgettable man. A military service will take place on Monday, November 14, 12:30 PM, at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr., Canton, GA 30114.
