Preston Woodrow (Woody) Miller, Jr. died of natural causes on Friday, May 24 in Roswell, Georgia at the age of 71. Preston is survived by his wife Lynda; children, Scott and Katie; grandchildren, Presley, Justin, Henry, Lexi; and sister Marilyn Kirkley; nephews Jimmy and Matt.
Preston was born on June 24, 1947 in Thomasville, GA to Mary Alice and Preston Woodrow Miller, Sr. He graduated from Valdosta State University in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He married Sharon Lynn (Lynda) Hale, his one true love, on September 12, 1970. After moving to Johnson City, TN the couple welcomed their son Scott and daughter Katie into their home.
Preston was known to love Gardening, Fishing and Atlanta Braves Baseball. He loved the outdoors and you could always find him “playing in the dirt.” Preston was a kind person who truly lived by the belief that “if you can’t say something nice about someone, then you shouldn’t say anything at all.”
A reception is scheduled for 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Friday, May 31 at Roswell Funeral Home - 950 Mansell Rd, Roswell, GA 33076 - with a service to follow at 2:00 PM. Deacon Ray Egan from Saint Jude Catholic Church will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Preston’s life.
