Paula Lyon Williams

Paula was one of three children born to the late Paul Sprenkel and Marlene Mencimer Lyon.

Paula had a magnetic personality that could naturally draw others in. She was genuine, kind, intelligent and fiercely protective of those she loved.

Paula was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA): an inclusive community pursuing research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat and culture. She was a talented seamstress and was inducted into the Order of the Laurel – an honor equivalent to that of a knight within the Society – in recognition of her exceptional skill and craftsmanship, particularly with regard to her creation of era-appropriate clothing.

An Anglophile, Paula greatly enjoyed her three years living in London, England with her husband, who was stationed there while in the Navy. She took full advantage of the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe. Other joys in Paula’s life included many trips to Disney World with friends and family, as well as all things Disney. Paula also enjoyed attending plays and musicals, Shakespeare, and watching documentaries and British sitcoms. She loved all animals, but she was most closely bonded to her many beloved kitties.

Paula’s memory will be cherished by her husband of 33 years, Paul G. Williams; brothers, Kenn Lyon and Greg Sprenkel, Greg’s wife, Leslie; goddaughter, Richenda Lyon Slaten; cousin “triplet” Joan Wilson; nephew, Evyn Sprenkel; father-in-law, Paul E. Williams and his wife, Mary Lynn; and many other extended family members and countless friends.

The Williams family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Tuesday, October 5, 2021at Roswell Funeral Home with memorial services following in the chapel.
