Michelle was a beloved wife and mother to her husband and daughter, as well as many “adopted” family members. She was known for her kind and generous personality and her dedication to family, friends, and every stray animal she could find.
Throughout her life, Michelle achieved many accomplishments. She worked for AT&T for 30 years, starting as an International Operator and retiring as a Disaster Recovery Manager. She was on the forefront of the implementation of AT&T’s domestic cellular network. After she retired from AT&T, she joined her husband in owning and operating his family restaurant, King Tut Drive-In, in Beckley, West Virginia. She played a vital role in the operation of the restaurant as the Vice President until fully retiring in September of 2023. Through her work at AT&T, the restaurant, and her personal life, she touched the lives of countless individuals.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, David McKay; her daughter, Heather McKay; as well as her family: siblings, Eva Sheley, Diana Richards, John Mark Chleborad, Gwendolyn Pitman; her niece and five nephews, and their children; her uncle Gerald ‘Jerry’ Chleborad; as well as her “adopted” children: David McKay Jr., Priscilla McKay, Jim and Sarah Fredriksson. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Shirley Chleborad.
A Memorial Service will be held at Roswell Funeral Home in Roswell, GA on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 1 PM to celebrate Michelle's life and honor her contributions to everyone she knew and loved. A service in Colorado will follow in the springtime.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charities she held so dear: GoodMews in Atlanta, Georgia, Laela’s Hope Cat Rescue in Beckley, West Virginia, or a local pet rescue in memory of Michelle.
Michelle's departure leaves a void in our hearts, but her legacy will forever be cherished.
