Michael was born to the late Richard Shinners and Agnes Geraldine Shinners on December 4, 1961 in Chicago, the fourth of seven children. He grew up in the South Side neighborhood of Chicago. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Dayton. He worked in a number of different industries before eventually finding his way into community association management. Michael was a long-time member of the Georgia Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI), and earned several industry designations, including the Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM) designation.
Preceding him in death were his father, Richard Shinners; his sister-in-law, Margery Shinners; and his brother-in-law, Patrick Connelly.
Michael is survived by his wife, Teresa; his son, Nicholas; his daughter, Mary (Molly); his son, Patrick; his sisters, Alison Segebarth (Kevin), Karen Shinners (Fred Sevald), Maureen Shinners (John Gearen), Susan Connelly, and Linda Shinners; his brother, Brian Shinners; and the uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews.
A beautiful celebration of life was held on August 28th, 2022 at Roswell Funeral Home with his family, friends, and colleagues.
