Michael Muir of Roswell, GA, age 50, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, his loving wife Jill, his son Daniel, 14 and his daughter Madison, 12. He leaves behind his brothers, Tim of Atlanta, GA and Tom and his wife Christine and their son Tommy, 14 of Leonia, NJ. He is the son of Thomas and Constance Muir of Palisades Park, NJ. He also leaves behind many other relatives and a huge amount of life-time friends.
Mr. Muir was a very successful and integral part of the hotel industry and was recently honored at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for achieving the 2016 Hospitality Industry Leader of the Year.
Michael began his career with Days Inns of America, Holiday Inn and then quickly moved forward as one of the founders of US Franchise Systems, based in Atlanta, Georgia. He also was a Senior Vice President at Wyndham Worldwide, and then moved to Best Western Hotels and Resorts, where he was Vice President and Chief Development Officer. He successfully concluded his career at Live Oak Bank as Executive Vice President and Domain Expert initiating the Hotel Lending Division.
Mr. Muir was well liked and respected by all who came in contact with him. He was a motivational speaker throughout the country and trained his sales force for many years. He was a devout family man who volunteered as a youth basketball, baseball, and football coach in Roswell.
Michael enjoyed life, was a very hard worker, loved all people, and practiced his religion with faith, heroic courage, and acceptance of God’s will. He was a genuine example of goodness for all to emulate.
Visitation is at the Roswell Funeral Home 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA on Tuesday, March 14, from 5 – 8 pm. Mass will be held at St. Peter Chanel Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017.
