Born in West Allis, Wisconsin, Mike proudly earned his Eagle Scout at age 13, and served as a Sunday School teacher over many years. He was a graduate of Carroll College in Waukesha, WI with a major in History. He had a lifelong love of learning and developed a deep interest in genealogy. Mike had a long successful career as a logistics executive. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs, the Green Bay Packers, soccer, and most especially his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. and Gertrude (Root) Corrigan of Kingsford, Michigan.
He is survived by beloved wife Cheryl (Johannsen) whom he married 48 years ago on May 22, 1971. Together they shared a love of travel and family, with career moves from Racine, WI, to Bucks County, PA, London, England, and then Alpharetta, GA for the last 28 years.
He was immensely proud of and loved by his daughter Kelly Beck (Matthew) of Roswell, GA, and son Adam Corrigan (Jessica) of Woodstock, GA. He was a wonderful coach in their early sports careers and an avid champion of their achievements on and off the field. He was adored by his four grandchildren, Keegan and Molly Beck, and Mattie and Graham Corrigan, with whom he was blessed to be able to share hours and hours of quality time.
Mike had a clever wit and he will be fondly remembered for his endless inside jokes and special traditions. His friends will remember his unerringly funny sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where daughter Kelly has worked for many years and of whom Mike was so very proud.
