Michael Rayburn Boyd was born March 21, 1956, in Wilmington, NC to the late, Katie Louise McKoy Ragin and James Boyd (Step-father, Edward Ernest Ragin). He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Boyd; sister, Brenda Boyd- Smith and brother, Adrian Boyd (Mia). He also leaves behind to carry his legacy, his children: Miguel Boyd (Amanda), Shalaya Marbley (Sam Finley), Juanita Schadl (Scott), Michael Boyd Jr. (Belanie), and Shamika Boyd; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends.
Michael Rayburn Boyd served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged after four years of active duty. He served as a Telecommunication officer. After obtaining an AA in Business and Real Estate, he began a career at IBM. Michael also shared a successful limousine business for several years with his beautiful wife, Cynthia Boyd. He retired from IBM and later followed his dream of living on a farm where he enjoyed his animals, human nature, and his family time.
Michael had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He would start a conversation with any and everybody. Constantly taking on many roles in life when needed; he was your family, friend, sponsor, guidance counselor, credit/tax specialist, banker, writer, protector, Dr. Phil, and sometimes your minister.
No matter how he felt, he could and would uplift others and help them any way he could. If you called him with a problem or issue then a resolution would soon follow - that's just who he was.
Most of all, he was an unforgettable man. If you met him, then he held a place in your heart. He was just "that" person - stubborn as a mule, but caring like no other. When he loved you - he loved you and you felt it. Everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him knew he loved Goodwill and Fred Sanford was no "real" competition for him.
Michael Rayburn Boyd was a rock star that left his mark and touched the hearts of many people in so many ways. He will forever live in our hearts and be cherished in remembrance of his favorite quote, "To God Be The Glory!"
