Mrs. Mary Louise Hagan, 97, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. Mary Louise was born in Tampa, Florida, on September 5, 1925. She is the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. John DiMaio.
Mary Louise moved to Atlanta in 1945 after she married the love of her life, Louis F. Hagan, Sr. The marriage was blessed with four children. Mary Louise and Louis enjoyed sharing many precious moments and fun adventures during their 55 years of marriage.
Mary Louise was very talented both in music and sports. She sang her entire life, including professionally in Tampa and Atlanta. She was an active member of her life plan community’s choral group from 2017 to 2022. Basketball was her favorite sport and she played throughout high school. She coached basketball at her Tampa high school after graduation. She also coached several girls rec teams over the decades.
She was a fantastic cook and seamstress. Her delicious meals and canned fruits and vegetables were widely admired. Her acumen as a seamstress was also well known. She created and sewed both of her daughters’ wedding gowns. She also worked expertly as a taylor for a local shop for several years.
Mary Louise and Louis loved spending time on the lake. They enjoyed water skiing into their 70s. She and Louis loved traveling. They went on many trips throughout the U.S. and Europe. Mary Louise also traveled with her daughters on several European trips in her later years.
One of her favorite late life activities was going on gambling trips with her girlfriends. These ladies had many fun times sitting together at the slot machines and enjoying the casino entertainment.
She loved her Catholic faith and was very active in her parish life, including singing in the choir and leading the senior’s social group for many years.
Along with her parents, Mary Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Louis, and her seven siblings. She is survived by her four loving children: son, Louis F. Hagan, Jr. (Beth) of Palm Coast, FL; Laura H. Johns (Creighton) of Marietta, GA; Paul F. Hagan (Renee) of Blairsville, GA; and Leslie H. Adams (Kraig) of Parkland, FL; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
The visitation for Mary Louise Hagan will take place from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the Roswell Funeral Home and Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, Georgia. The funeral Mass to honor the life of Mary Louise Hagan will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell, Georgia. A reception will immediately follow the funeral Mass in the parish hall.
