Mrs. Marilyn Manning Johnson of Woodstock, Ga, died Wednesday, April 14,2010, after a lengthy illness.
Born February 12, 1942, she was the daughter of James Richard Manning and Mildred Crawford Mangham, both of Macon, and both deceased.
Marilyn was born in California and moved to Macon, Ga. at the age of three. She was a 1960 graduate of A L Miller High School. In July 1960, she was married to George William "Bill" Johnson of Macon. Together they raised two girls, Jennifer and Jessica. In 1972 the family moved to Roswell, Ga.
Marilyn worked many years for the Recreation and Parks Department of the City of Roswell. However, her career was as a wife, mother and grandmother. This was the "job" she loved. Her husband Bill died in 2005.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her two children, Jennifer Baker of Woodstock and Jessica Lemley of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Ryan Baker, Brandy Baker, Dara Lemley, McKenna Lemley and 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving are stepfather, Ray Mangham of Lizella, Ga.: aunt Martha Jane Weaver, Americus, Ga., uncles Norman E Manning, Waleska, Ga. and Jimmy Crawford of Griffin, Ga. and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Roswell Funeral Home on Saturday, April 17th from 6 to 8 pm. The funeral will be on Sunday, April 18th at Roswell United Methodist Church at 2 pm. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn's remembrance to the American Cancer Society, donation preference is lung cancer, www.cancer.org. Roswell Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Marilyn Manning Johnson.
