Margaret Grace Wright Withers departed this earthly life in the early hours of Friday, May 4, 2018. She was 91 years old. Grace was a native of Roswell, Georgia. She was the daughter of James Isaac Wright and Jeanettie Jane Reed Wright. She was born December 7, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Hoyt Withers. She had been married to him for 37 years until his passing on November 12, 1986. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Everett (Mae), Robert (Mary Clara), Charles (Agnes), and four sisters, Mary Hawkins (Aubrey), Mildred Threadgill (Anthony), Sue Wright, and Jimmie Louise Elliott (Bill). Grace was a long time (79 years) member of Roswell First Baptist Church. She sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and was an adult leader with the church’s Vacation Bible School. Grace graduated from Milton High School in 1944. She graduated from Tift College with a B.A. in Religious Education. She earned a Masters Degree in Religious Education from Carver Missions, Louisville, Kentucky. She retired from Fulton County Schools, after 32 years of service, where she taught elementary grades and kindergarten. Following her retirement, she was a substitute teacher for 19 years and was a volunteer at North Fulton Regional Hospital for 25 years. During the last few years, she was an actively involved resident of Elmcroft of Roswell Senior Living.
Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her joy was her children. She loved music, games, and reading, especially inspirational books.
Grace is survived by her children; Dr. Larry Dale (Caroline) Withers, Margaret Jane (Joey) Teague, Jean Withers, and Cathy Dawn (Scott) Gilliam, 8 grandchildren; Katherine (Brian) Withers Armstrong, James (Anna) Withers, Jonathan Withers, Ashley (Daniel) Teague Chang, Heather (Adam) Teague Carroll, Bradford Teague, Miles Gilliam, Jules Gilliam, 9 great grandchildren; Clara and Anna Armstrong, Olivia and James Withers, Olivia, Nathan, and Ryan Chang, Adelynn and Reid Carroll, her sister Anne Bell (Robert), and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed terribly by all who knew and loved her.
