Born on August 5, 1945, in Modesto, California, to Benjamin and Ann Wheeler, Larry's journey through life was marked by unwavering commitment to his family, community, and country.
Larry graduated from Emory University in 1964 with a Bachelor’s degree in History. He joined the United States Army Reserve as a historian where he dedicated his time and expertise to his country.
For 38 years, Larry played a vital role in the banking industry, serving at Bank of America and its predecessors. His dedication and leadership skills were evident throughout his career, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers alike.
He devoted 18 years to Cobb County during which time he served as Cobb County Chamber of Commerce Chairman and Chairman of The Walker School. His impact on the local community was immeasurable, and his leadership contributed to the growth and prosperity of those around him.
Larry loved his dogs, traveling and golf. He embraced life with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. He resided in Los Angeles, California, Atlanta, Georgia, and Tampa, Florida, making lifelong friendships in each city. Larry’s warm heart and welcoming spirit endeared him to everyone he met.
A man of deep faith, Larry loved Christ and his family wholeheartedly. His unconditional support, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of many. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, two children, and two grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and love he instilled in them.
In addition to his human family, Larry is predeceased by his beloved Labrador mix, Gracie, a faithful companion who brought joy and comfort to his life.
As we mourn the loss of Lawrence Denis Wheeler, let us also celebrate the rich tapestry of a life well-lived—a life that left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A visitation for Larry will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076, followed by a celebration of life from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
Larry will be laid to rest in Green Lawn Cemetery, 950 Mansell Road, Roswell, GA 30076.
