She was born in Elizabeth City, NC on August 20th, 1956 and grew up in Kinston, NC with her younger brother and sister, Kevin and Karla where she loved riding horses.
After graduating high school from North Lenoir High School, she received an associate of arts degree from Lenoir Community College.
Katherine spent several years in Virginia, vacationing often on the Outer Banks of North Carolina with family.
In 1998 she was living in Alpharetta, GA and accepted a position with McKesson Corporation where her strong work ethic, organizational skills and composure under pressure served the company well for the next 22 years. In 2005 Katherine turned her focus back to her education, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Covenant College in 2007. She dedicated much of her spare time to some form of artistic expression whether it was writing, painting, making jewelry or performing as an actress at ACT1 Community Theater. Katherine started a business, New City Jewels, in 2010 designing, creating and selling bracelets that incorporated natural gemstones, metals and vintage pieces.
Volunteer work was very important to her, selflessly giving over much of her time and attention to organizations including Giving Comfort (McKesson), Centers for Social Responsibility, Hands on Atlanta, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Above all else, Katherine was devoted to her Christian faith which served as a foundation for her unwavering strength and resilience.
