Joyce was born on November 15, 1940 in Clayton, North Carolina, the daughter to John and Docia Meares.
Joyce went to NC State and met the love of her life, Jack Boddie. They married and started their family in Kinston, NC where first daughter, Kimberly Blaire was born. The next move was to Bartlesville, Ok, where second daughter, Jacquelyn Leigh was born. They had many moves and adventures together including Florida, Colorado and finally settling in Georgia.
Joyce was a scholar and very artistic. She received her Master’s Degree in education and was an outstanding teacher. She taught Science at Milton High School for over 20 years until her retirement. But, she didn’t stop then. She started substitute teaching and continued to do this until last year. Her passion for teaching was immeasurable. Her students loved her and she loved her students.
Joyce loved her family, as she enjoyed having friends and family around. She was a devoted wife, excellent mother, loving grandmother and friend. She had a gift of connecting with people and touching many lives. She enjoyed traveling (many Atlanta Braves Spring Training Camps) and performing in plays with the Roswell Ramblers and her Red Hat Society. Her infectious joy and influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
Along with her parents, brother John and sister Carol, Joyce is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack. She is survived by her two loving daughters: Kim (Mark) and Jacque (Sam), grandchildren: Tony, Nicholas, Cameron Jack and Makanezie.
