Mr. John David Cobb, 65, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on April 6, 2013. He was born on Sept. 12, 1947 in Charlotte, NC, to Raymond and Belle Cobb. John moved with his family to Georgia in his early teens.
John was head of Parking Security at Emory University for awhile, but he was most proud of serving his country in the military in various areas. He did a tour of duty in Viet Nam and earned a Combat Infantry Badge. He also worked as an analyst with the Border Patrol for the Texas National Guard; the 372 MI Detachment, with tours in Germany and Japan; as a civilian with the 513 MI Brigade; and most recently, with the Army Operations Group. He retired with thirty years in the Army Reserve and nine with the Department of the Army as a civilian.
He is preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Raymond.
John is survived by his wife of 12 years, Elena; sons, Geoffrey in California and Jonathan in Atlanta; niece, Beth Farmer in North Carolina; step-nieces Svetlana Nikif and Ilena Frolova and their families in Marietta.
Visitation will be from 10-11 am and the funeral will be at 11 am on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Roswell Funeral Home, 950 Mansell Rd., Roswell, GA 30076. He will be placed to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Administration or the Cancer Society.
