Jo Snow, of Alpharetta, GA, passed on through this life on October 15, 2017 after a brief battle with liver cancer. She was 60 years old. Born Joe Jean Cotten on Ground Hog’s Day (Feb. 2, 1957) to Vencie and Eddie Cotten of McComb, Mississippi, early in life Jo lived with a childless aunt (Lucinda McMorris) in McComb, but moved to Little Rock, Arkansas as a young girl in the early 60’s when the aunt became ill. Along with her siblings, Jo accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. John Baptist Church. She graduated from Parkview High School in 1976 and soon afterwards enrolled in University of Arkansas Little Rock where she acted in school plays and joined the college dance team. She then danced her way into the heart of co-student Larry Snow, and eloped with him to Knoxville Tennessee in 1979, where she worked as a salesperson and bank teller as he completed his PhD studies at the University of Tennessee. She loved her catchy married name: Jo Snow! In 1985, the Snows moved to the suburbs of Atlanta, which would remain the home for their new family the remainder of her days.
A great reader and movie buff who loved gardening, cooking, travel and eating out, Jo truly enjoyed being a homemaker the past 30+ years, being a wonderful and proud mother to her 2 sons (Michael and Marcus) and loving wife to her husband Larry, while working various part time jobs intermittently. God blessed Jo with many gifts, and one of those was a charming, magnetic personality. She loved her family and many friends, and all were deeply impacted upon knowing her. In addition to her parents Eddie and Vencie, Jo is preceded in death by a brother (Joe Bryant of N. Little Rock), aunt (Ethyl Mae Holmes of Arlington, TX) and uncle (LS McMorris, McComb MS). She leaves to cherish her loving memory a husband (Dr. Larry Snow of Alpharetta, GA), sons Michael Snow ( Angelica), Alpharetta GA; Marcus Snow ( Victoria), Alpharetta GA; 2 sisters, Shirley Wilburn and Ruthie Dillahunty, North Little Rock, AR; two brothers, Dewayne Cotten (Caletha), Grayson GA; Bernell Thompson (Marie), Milwaukee WI; three nephews, Reggie and Scottie Thompson, Milwaukee, WI; Joe Bryant Jr., Little Rock, AR; 4 nieces, Arnell Bryant, Cassandra Hunter, and Roxie Bryant, Little Rock, AR; Amari Cotten, Grayson GA, and a host of extended family, good friends, and acquaintances.
