Jerry Turner Thomas, 72, of Alpharetta, GA entered eternal peace on March 3, 2024 due to complications from a fall. Jerry was the youngest child of L. M. and Sarah Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Sonny Thomas and James Thomas, and his beloved son Scott Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karla Miller Thomas; his son Kyle Thomas; his grandson Tristan Thomas; his sister Evelyn Grant and multiple nieces and nephews.
Jerry grew up in Roswell, GA, where he attended Roswell Elementary School and Roswell High School. After high school, he volunteered to join the US Marine Corps and he was always proud of his stint as a Marine. In 1971, Jerry returned home and continued work in the grading business, which his father had trained him to do at a very young age and that became his lifelong profession. Eventually, he and his brother James took over the Neal Turner Grading business.
Jerry met his forever love, Karla, in 1973 and married her in 1974. Two fine, handsome boys resulted from their union. Jerry was always an outdoorsman. His favorite hobbies included camping, bird hunting and golf. He delighted in tending to his yard. Each year, he planted a vegetable garden and he was particularly proud of the fine tomatoes he shared with many others. Family, friends and neighbors were important to Jerry. He loved to sit around a roaring campfire and contribute to the funny and entertaining tales shared by the group. He always relished a good party. Jerry exuded charm and sported a captivating smile.
A memorial service for Jerry Thomas will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in the Roswell Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00PM until 3:00PM.
