Mr. James ‘Jim’ Matthew Millar, age 52, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019. Jim was born on August 27, 1966 in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, son to Leigh Millar and Jane Van Schoick Millar.
Following his high school graduation from Point Pleasant Beach High School in New Jersey, Jim attended the University of Richmond where he would graduate with his Bachelor’s degree in 1989. His working career was spent as a Southeastern Sales Representative with BrandTech Scientific, based out of Connecticut. Jim married the love of his life, Marla Millar, on July 9, 2005 in Charleston, South Carolina; where the two continued to vacation every year on their anniversary. During baseball season, Jim could easily be found cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox. He was also a season ticket holder of the Atlanta Falcons and enjoyed attending games with his best friend Michael. Jim was a fun loving guy who adored his family, cats and a nice glass of wine. He was a wonderful son, husband, brother, uncle, and friend; Jim will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, Jim is survived by, his devoted wife Marla Millar; siblings, Jake (Judi) of Brick, NJ, Ron (fiance Lisa) of Ormond Beach FL, Scott (Barbara) of Galena MD, Michael (Tammi) of Forked River, NJ, and Melissa Cowan (Jeff) of Smyrna GA; sister in law, Cheryl Linares (Jose) of Coral Springs FL.; in-laws, Ron and Diane Gross of Parkland FL; two uncles, eleven nieces and nephews, and eight cousins.
He was predeceased by his nephew, Taylor Grant Cowan.
A special friend Michael Giovine has been faithfully by Jim's side throughout his illness. His many friends from Point Pleasant Beach who have sent messages of support are appreciated by his family.
A Celebration of Life to honor Jim will be held at three o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, July 13, 2019 in the Chapel of Roswell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from two o’clock in the afternoon until the service hour at the funeral home.
All family and friends are invited to attend a reception held at the Wing Factory following memorial services.
